How do I
get a library card?
Anyone over the age of 14 may apply for a library card by
coming to the library (either in Lawrenceburg or Loretto) and
filling out an application card. The applicant must show proof
of current mailing address at the time of application. For
this reason, persons who do not have a driver's license may
need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children who
are under the age of 14 must have a parent, grandparent or
legal guardian co-sign the application. |

Your
library doesn't have the book I want. Can you get it for me?
Our library participates with others across the state to
provide inter-library loan services for our patrons. We ask
that you pay $1.50 per book. This is the average cost of
mailing one book back to the lending library. You must have a
valid library card before we request a book for you. There are
limitations to this service. Please ask a library staff member
for details. |

How do
you decide which books to buy?
We take suggestions from our patrons and read reviews of new
materials in a variety of sources in order to select the books
we buy. Very popular authors are always purchased as long as
their books are in demand. If you would like to suggest a book
for us to purchase, please fill out a request form at the
library. We are not able to buy every book that is suggested,
but will seriously consider all requests. |

Who
decides the rules of the library?
The library is operated under the policies set by a seven
member board of trustees. Rules for the makeup of this board
are set under the Tennessee Code Annotated. We attempt to
recruit members of the board from all areas of the county.
Four members are appointed by the Lawrence County Government;
three are appointed by the City of Lawrenceburg. The board is
responsible for setting library policies, for obtaining the
operating funds, and for hiring the library director. |
